Getting your Wedding Vibes Right
Ultimately, your wedding day is about celebrating the love between you and the person you’re about to marry. But there’s another goal at hand: Throwing one seriously epic party that your guests will talk about for years to come.
Think back to some weddings you have attended in the past, what was super memorable to you, what stood out, and how did the day feel to you? We want to recreate those wedding vibes to ensure that your big day will leave your guests talking about it for years to come!
Ahead, are some sure-fire tips that will leave your guests impressed. Including even just a handful of these standout, ideas will turn your wedding day into an event to remember.
Skip Traditions That Don’t Fit Your Style!
My first and foremost advice! Some couples don’t want to toss the bouquet or the garter, while others would prefer not to wait until the ceremony for their first look. Some wedding traditions are passed on some really ancient and religious rituals and have no place in a modern wedding. If you can’t imagine partaking in one of these traditions, don’t do it—after all, it’s your wedding.
Favours People Will Use
Sooo many wedding favours go to waste, if they’re not being picked up by guests, they usually just end up in the bin (and they often come with a hefty price tag that could be better spent elsewhere). If you’re going to spend the money on favours, select something your guests won’t leave on the table. Mini bottles of alcohol, take home blankets or seedlings and succulents and try to find something that guests will take home and use again. A yummy snack like cookies or popcorn are also crowd-pleasers.
Don’t forget what’s important
Wedding planning can be stressful, but if you find yourself getting too caught up in it all, take a step back and remind yourself what your wedding is really about – getting hitched to your other half and celebrating with all your nearest and dearest. It can be easy to get caught up in all the stress of the day and not actually take the time to enjoy it. Nominate a friend or bridesmaid to deal with any issues that might arise on the day. That way you can focus on the more important things.
Plan with personality
Your wedding day needs to reflect you and it needs to be a day that you’re comfortable with. So, if you’re known for your laid-back approach to life, don’t plan a really formal wedding because that won’t feel right to you or your guests. Talk to the events team at your venue and let them suggest things that will suit your personality.
Don’t be afraid to be different
If there’s something that’s important to you or if you want to include some unique wedding ideas in your plans, go for it! Guests will always react well to anything that’s unusual, fun or that they can see has a link with you. However, it can be useful to prep a few people beforehand so that they can show your other guests what to do or how to get involved.
Keep Speeches Short and Personal
Speeches are a necessary component of any wedding, but it’s important to ensure they don’t drag on for too long. Keep the toasts brief—no more than a few minutes per person—and have your DJ or bandleader prepared to make tasteful cut-offs.
Be selective with the guest list.
You don’t want anyone at your wedding that you are not really excited to see! Your cousin, best friends- uncles- dog don’t really need to be there on your big day. Paying by the head is expensive enough and money that could be used elsewhere. One good rule of thumb is if you haven’t spoken to them in 12 months they don’t need to be at your wedding!
Go home on a high
End your party with a bang rather than letting everything just fizzle out. This could mean choosing a special song for the last dance, arranging a sparkler send-off or setting out your wedding favours for guests to take as they leave so that everyone leaves with a smile on their face.
